A match was commenced'at Hagley Park between the Hagley • Park and -Sydenham teams, when the former gained a slight advantage. Scores: —Sydenham 146 (Gasson 46, Ritchie 21, Marsden 17, Robson 15, Sykes 14, and Mason 10); Hagley Park 111 for four wickets (R. Barry 60 not out, and W. G. Garrard 39),.' Edser and Johnston secured the best bowling averages for Hagley Park, and Lawrence for Sydenham. Lyttelton and the Fanners' Co-operative teams also began a match at Hagley Park, the former gaining a small lc:.d. Scores: — Farmers' Co-operative 92 (P'etrie 36, Gresham 21,: and Day 10); Lyttelton 111 for' eight wickets (Boxsball 48, J.-Mahar 23, and Orchard 13). Petrie, Day and Roberts divided the bowling honours for the Farmers' Co-operative, and J. Mahar and Davis bowled best for the other side.
