The statutory meeting of the South Can/ terbury Hospital Board was held at Timarq yesfcarday. Mi John Talbot was re-elected chairman. In, Hie address on the, work of the year, he stated that the orders for outdoor relief were bod, or 100 less than last year. The system of the distribution of goods by the Board, instead of by orders foi the goods, so fa: ■worked very satisfactorily. fcSome inquiries had been made aa to the probable effect on the Board's finances of the Old Age Pensions Act. The question ol the medical stafj was discussed, and eventually it was agreed that a sub-committee should report upon the best means *of carrying on tho medical work of the hospital, with power to call for applications for a full medical stafi upon the pro sent system, or to take any other steps te procure information, the committee to consist of the chairman, Messrs Grandi, Moore, and McLaren.
