NORTH CANTERBURY.
The/statutory meeting of the Hospital Board. waa held* yesterday. Present— Maseru/G. M. Gray (chairman), G. Wallace, J. Dobeon, J. Wolfe, W. Dunlop, J. M. Douglass, G. Payling, E. Feldwick, W. Jifcoques, and H. White.» Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs W. Acton-Adams and G. McHaffie. The Chairman referred to the different important r works the Board had put in hand, the Hyman Marks Ward, the electric lighting of the Hospital.the erection of a new water stand, and the construction of a barrel drain for *the old open drain, which ran through the grounds. He thanked members for their -'courtesy, and then declared that the old ■ Board had ceased to exist, and Mr Miller took the chair. On the motion of Messrs Payling and Wolfe, MrC, M. Gray was re-elected chairman, and returned his thanks for the confidence repoeed in him. The House and Financial Committee was elected as under:—Messrs Q. Payling, W. Jacques, 0. M. Gray, J. M. Douglass, G. H. McHaffle, and, W. Acton-Adams. The secretary was instructed to invite applications for the honorary staff—Two surgeons, two physicians, and one opthalmic surgeon. After informal consideration of some matters the Board adjourned.
