AKAROA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of this Council was held on Wednesday evening. Present—The Mayor, Crs. Taylor, Harrison, Earnshaw, Grange, Munro, Vangioni, Chappell,: and Leete. Crs. Earnshaw, Grange, and Monro made the usual declaration, and took their seats. Correspondence was read from the Union Steamship Company and Messrs Henmngand Co., with respect to stones and dredging near the wharf, and the s.s. Taupo touching lost trip. Consideration of this matter was left over until uext meeting. Mr Wilkins sent a report and estimates of the proposed water supply for the borough. New committees were elected as follows :— Works—Crs. Chappell, Harrison, and Vangioni. Baths and wharves—Crs. Vangioni, Orbell, and Earnshaw. Finance and sanitary—Crs. Harrison, Taylor and Leete. The first-named gentleman in each case to be chairman. Tbe tender of Mr J. H. Thomas for maintenance of wharf lights at £35105, and that of Mr J. Bell, for carting, at 10a a day wore accepted.
