LAND BOARD.
A meeting of tbe Land Board was held on Thursday. Present: —Messrs Weetman, A. C. Pringle, D. MoMillan, and J. McLachlan.
The following applications were granted:' —C. Welsh, lease in perpetuity, Otarakoio Settlement, 6a 2r; W. Davison, lease in perpetuity, Reserve 350, Hinds, b/9a 3r 64p; j Charles Rogers, lease in perpetuity, Pawahu Hamlet, 2a Or 3p. A number of applications for transfers of I leases and licenses were dealt with, and the [report of the Crown Lands Rangei received and considered. t . I With reference to the burnt busb country |at Oxford, it was resolved to approve of the land being offered for pastoral license, ia three blocks, for a terra of seven years, at an upset rental of 9d per acre per annum, subject to the rights of existing timber licenses. In connection with an application from the trustees of the Rabbit Island Dairy Factory, to exchange part of their leasehold and transfer same to the Central Dairy Company tor a creamery, it was asked to approve. A report was received from the Stock Department re proposed erection of rabbit fence on Reserves ol and 61a, Hakataramea, and it . was resolved to recommend the Governor to approve of the runs being weighted with the certified cost of the rabbit fence, the Stock Inspector to certify to the effectiveness of and • cost of fence.
On the advice of the Crown Solicitor, it was resolved to approve of the draft case on appeal, re ballot for grazing runs on Feb. 26, as amended.
Several other detail matters in connection
with applications for cement, &c, were disposed of. " It was resolved—"That canned recommend the Hon. Minister foi Lands;.to, entertain any application, either for Surrender or for reduction of rent, which necessarily involves surrender, while there are ' any arrears of rent owing, since such reduction cannot be retrospective, and that appli-. cants who owe more than two payments Be' notified that unless all arrears are paid within one month, their interests will be for"-; - '.". feited, with a view to the lands • : " offered before the end of the year. ■ ",Y_After disposing of some further routine business the Board adjourned.
