The particulate demanded by the Opposition regarding the Vote for contingencies in connection with the' Post and Telegraph* Department; brought io the light of day an interesting little-itemjof £146, representing the expenses of the voyage of the Premier's secretary to the Old Country on the occasion of . her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. This rhust, of course,- be added to the Premier's expenses, £1750, over which there was such a warm debate last session, bringing the grand total; up to; £1896- The £146 ' referred .to 'was buried away in an item of £25,574 for office expenses, fuel, travelling expenses, and contingencies. The Premier said that MrCrow would have drawn the amount for travelling whether hei had gone to England or riot, for he would have been travelling in the colony, it will be remembered that a member suggested some time, ago that the House had not been told the full amount of the cost of the Premier's visit to England! a suggestion which the Premier indignantly repudiated. This little revelation is one of the results of the Opposition's recent valiant and successful fight fer full .information regarding the contingency votes. .'■'
