A PECULIAR CASE.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNEDIN, Juno 27.
A peculiar case has been occupying the Police Court all to-day. Samuel Bushell, a 'guard in the Railway service, was charged with the theft of a purse containing money and jewellery, valued at £7 7s, belonging to Mrs Cantrell. She admitted that she lost her purse in the train fourteen months ago. On the 17th of this month the prosecutrix claimed that she had seen her ring on the accusod's finger, but when arrested by the police at Waitati he had no ring, and he denied having had the ring on. The Bench unanimously dismissed the case.
