LAND SALE.
A very successful sale of agricultural land was held at Messrs Pyne and Co.'s stores on Saturday, when a portion of Mr John Deans's Homebush estate was disposed of. There was a large attendance and good competition was manifested, showing that there is a strong demand at the present time for good agricultural land. The portion of the estate offered was known as the (.Jorge Hill block, and consisted of 3030 acres, divided into twenty-six lots, ranging in size from 14 to 400 acres, and was situated close to the ; Sheffield and Waddington railway stations. Tho sale was conducted by Messrs Pyne ami Go., in conjunction with Messrs Dalgety and Co., Mr Pyne acting as salesman. The Gorge Hill lot, a nicely situated property of 300 acres, was secured by Mr C. Gamble at £15 per acre, and adjoining this Mr T. W. Adams purchased four lots totalling 540 acres, and giving for three of them the top price of £17 5s per acre. On the Sheffield eido of Mr Adams' sections Mr Thos. Ballan secured a nice compact farm by purchasing four lots which total an area of 520 acres, the price being£l2 17s 6d per acre. Several small lots adjoining the Sheffield saleyards and and hotel wcro also disposed of at satisfactory figures. Several sections, tho quality of thesoi lof which, as comparcdjwith some of the land sold, did not appear to bo fully recognised, were passed at £10 15s and £11 per acre. The following were the results—Lot 1, 305 acres, withdrawn at £10 10s per acre ; lot 2. 390 acres, withdrawn at £10 10s ; lot 3, 105 acres, £17 ss, T. W. Adams ; lot 4, 87 acres 2 roods, £17 ss, T. W. Adams; lot 5, 87 acres 2 roods, £17 ss, T. W. Adams ; lot 6, 260 acres, £12, T. W. Adams ; lot 7, 340 acres, withdrawn at £10 15s ; lot 8, 300 acres, £15, C. Gamble ; lot 9, 90 acres, withdrawn at £11; lot 10, 90 acres, withdrawn at £11; lot 11, 85 acres, withdrawn at £11; lot 12, 85 acres, withdrawn at £11 ; lot 13, 44 acres, withdrawn at £10 15s ; lot 14, 44 acres, withdrawn at £10 15s ; lot 15, 31 acres, £11 10a, J. Searle ; lot 16, 31 acres, £11 10s, J. Searlo ; lot 17, withdrawn at £10 10s ; lot 18, 14 acres, £13, T. Adkin ; lot 19, 14 acres, £13, T. Adkin ; lot 20, 20 acres, £12 10s, T. B. Jones ; lot 21, 20 acres, withdrawn at £10 10s ; lot 22, 14 acres, withdrawn at £10 10s ; lot 23, 130 acres, £1217s 6d, T. Ballan ; lot 24, 115 acres, £12 17s6d, T. Ballan ; lot 25, 120 acres, £12 17s 6d, T. Ballau; lot 26, 155 acres, £12 17s 6d, T. Ballan. A section of 50 acres in the Kowai Bush, also the property of Mr J. Deans, waa sold to A. 6. Holmes at £3 10s. Sections 13 and 14, 80 acres, at £1110s per acre, to Mr D. Humm. The town sections at Sheffield were nob sold.
