Justice of Peace.—Mr A. D. Hassell, Cusfe, was sworn in as a justice. Slaughter-houses. — Licenses were granted to E. C. d'Auvergne, Seflon; 0. Hardy, Loburn, and H. Vallance, Sefton. Borough By-laws.—A case against J» Alexander for riding an unlighted bioycle after dark was dismissed. D. Blake, for riding a bicycle on a footpath, a second offence, was fined 10s, and costs 7s. W. Columbus, for carrying on as a pedlar without a license, was convicted and discharged. A Tinkettling Affair.—C. Gifkin, 0. Dench, R. Denoh, J. Dunlop, C. Bunlop, J. Lyndon, and G. Hancox were charged with tinkettling at Southbrook. Gifkin, 0. Dench, C. and J. Dunlop admitted th*> offence. J. Martyn and JB. Smith gave evidence. The charges against Hancox, R. Dench, and Lyndon were dismissed. 0. Dench, R. Dench and 0. Gifkin were charged with throwing filth at the dwelling of Louis Marin, at Southbrook. Constable Jackson eaid there had been a wedding and there was tinkettling and 61th thrown about. The case against R. Dench was dismissed.—r G. Hanoox, J. Lindon, and C. Dench were charged with doing damage to an out» building, which wae admitted by the accused. One of the defendants said it was all a lark, because theie had been a wedding. The Magistrate fined them 10s each and costs. Gefkin, J. Dunlop, and 0. , Dench were Ahen fined Is each, and costs 7a, for the tinkettling, C. Dunlop being discharged. C. Dench and Gifkin were fined 10s each, and costs 7s, for throwing filth at the house. Civil Casks.—E. R. Good vC. L. Fleming, £2 7s 8d ; North Canterbury Cooperative Company v C. Chambers, £3 ol Ba, judgment for plaintiffs, with coilts.
