The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,840,000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,860,000 quarters.
Share quotations -National Bank of New Zealand £2, Bank of New Zealand 4 per cent, guaranteed stock £102 10s, New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company 4 per cent, prior lien debentures £94 10s.
Tallow — Mutton, fine 23s 6d, medium 21s. Beef, fine 21s 9d, medium 20s 6d.
The American visible wheat supply is estimated at 35,045,000 bushels. Received April 29th, 12.25 a.m. April 28. The wheat -market is excited. English is 2s dearer, and foreign has advanced ls. Meat, with the exception of lamb, is considerably firmer, holders selling freely, as any serious restriction in American supplies is considered unlikely.
The Antwerp wool sales opened with fair competition. There were 2776 bales offered, and 1009 sold. Merinos advanced 5 to 10 centimes.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following London cable message, dated 27th April:— " Tallow—Market has a hardening tendency. New Zealand fine mutton tallow is worth 23s 3d per cwt., New Zealand good beef tallow is worth 21s. (Last quotations were 22s 6d and 20s 6d respectively).
"Wheat-Market is active. C.i.f. quotations have advanced 4s 6d per 4801b since last report. (Last quotation was 3Ss per 4801b).
"Cocksfoot —Market weaker, spring demand is over."
Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London office, under date 27th instant:—
" Since our last telegram prices of wheat in general are higher by Is per quarter."

AUCKLAND, April 28. Influenced directly and indirectly by the war, the market prices are advancing. Rope is £2 per ton dearer, turpentine 8d per gallon, kerosene ls per case. The largest holder of the latter declines to quote for big parcels. Other advances are : —Bran 10s per ton, sharps 15s per ton, oatmeal £1 per ton, potatoes 5a per ton, butter Id per lb, and eggs 3d per dozen. Rice is quoted at £27 per ton. There is better enquiry for flax and Btore pigs, the latter for export for the island trade to fill orders generally supplied by America.
NAPIER, April 28. Nelson Bros, received the following cable message from the C. M. and D. Company to-day:— '* Frozen mutton—Best Canterbury 3|d, Napier and North Island 3Jd. Frozen lamb —Market unchanged ; first quality 4|d, second quality 4d."
