When the field was fairly going The Clansman was in front, followed by Ace of Diamonds. The Clansman kept his place all the way, and won by three-quarters of a length after a good finish. Time, 2mm 26Jsec.

PLACE HANDICAP, a sweep of 10 soys each for starters, with 300 soys added : second 50 soys.from the prize. For hones that have run first, second or third in any race of the value of 100 soys or upwards, in which not less than six horses have started, after the Autumn Meeting of 1837. Gladstone fencing splendidly, closely followed by piloted the field throughout and won by three lengths. Bernal baulked. Time, 6min 56sec.

Spark made running well into the straight, but was beaten by Miss West, after a great finish, by a lone neck. Time, lmin 14§sec.

Betting— 9tol on Amberite, 6to 1 agst Mirella, 50 to 1 Ronda. Ronda led by thirty lengths the first time round, and along the back stretch the favourite was lyiug second, with Mirella at his heels. They closed up at the sheds, and Amberite led into the straight, going greac guns, winning by six lengths. Time, smin 39sec. FINAL HANDICAP, a sweep of 5 soys each, with 200 soys added; second 50 eovs from the prize. One mile and a quarter. Mr G. A. Nicholson's br g Vedette, by VanguardVenus Transit, 4 yre, Bst 111b .. .. .. 1 Mr R. Wootterrfs b g The Chief, 4 yre, Bst 81b .. 2 Mr W. H. Mackay's eh (j Standard, 6 yrs, 7st Blb .. 3 Eighteen started. The Chief looked all over a winner at the half distance, but Vedette came with a great run on the outside and won by half a length. Time, 2ruin 8f sec. Received April 18th, 12.30 a.m. SYDNEY, April 17. The betting on the Final Handicap yesterday was—s to 1 against Cabin Boy and First Mate, 6 to 1 Chief, 7 to 1 Vedette.

Vedette has been sold to Mr McKenna, a Victorian sportsman, for £500.
