NAPIER PARK R.C.'S AUTUMN MEETING.

NAPIER, March 22.

The Napier Park Racing Club's Autumn Meeting commenced in beautiful weather. The fields were good, the racing entertaining and speculation fairly brisk. The following are the results :—

TRIAL HANDICAP HURDLES, of 50 soys ; one mile and a half—23s, Mr J. R. McDonald's b er Opai, aged, list 91b, by Somnus—Polly (A. Hall), 1; 32, Barbarnssa, 9st 7lb, 2 ; 86, P.lackberrv, 9st 91b, 3. 67 Gorsc, 41 Nectar, It Great Britain also started. Won rather easily by two lengths, Blackberry close up third. Time, 2min 53&* ec (from post to post.) Dividend, £L 163.

ESIC HANDICAP, of 30 soys ; seven furlongs—66, Mr Rupuhua Te Hianga's blk g Whitirea, 5 yrs, by Armourer, Bst (VV. Jones), 1; 77, Katoomba, Bst 41b, 2 ; 189, The Duke, 7st 101b, 3. 203 Pansy, 72 Coolgardie, 18 Kaponga, 9 Whaiapo, 6 Matipo, and 13 Uila, also started. Whitirea was among the leading division from the ptart, and eventually won by half a length, The Duke, a length off, third. Time, lmin 32isec. Dividend, £9 3s.

Gollan's Scotia, 6st 71b, 3. Victoria Cross led all tbe way, but her rider was nearly caught napping, and Dasher fluished within a head of her, Scotia a length off third. Time, lmin 3jjsec. NAPIER CUP HANDICAP, of 300 soys; one mile and a half—lls, Mr J. Davis's b g Woodstock, by St. Leger—Cautiniere. 4 yra, 7st 71b (J. Gallagher), 1; 191, Mr 8. H. 'Gollan's Tirant d'Kau, 3 yrs, 7st 31b (V. O'Neill), 2; 163, Mr J. Mailer's Primula, 5 yrs, (P. White), 3. 145, Douglas, 9st; 259, Target, 7sfc 101b; 35, Mahaki, 7st 71b ; 42. Te Ngaehe, b«t 71b, also started. Woodstock and Target led Te Ngaehe until the straight was reached the first time, when the tatter went to the front, Primula, Mahaki, Douglas 'and' Tirant D'Eau following at half-length intervals. Halfa mile from home Woodstock took the lead, and Douglas and Tirant d'Eau started to go up. Entering the straight* Woodstock forced the pace, and closely followed by Primula raced for home. Tirant d'Eau came down the straight with a strong nin, and, passing Target and Primula, got within two lengths of Woodstock, who won by that distance, Primula four lengths off third, Douglas alongside fourth. Gold Cup led for three furlongs, when Amphion got on terms with him, and turning into (he straight the latter was leading, a good race resulting in Amphion's winning by a short neck.
