AKAROA EXCURSION.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS. Sik,-I endorse all " J. S." says re above, and hope the company will meet our wishes. Looking through the timetable I see the Monowai will be in Lyttelton on Easter Monday. The laying on of this grand boat would ensure success, and afford a most enjoyable outing to a very large number. One drawback attaches to her, that she would not be able to go alongside Akaroa jetty; but further research shows that the Tanpo is due southwards same day, and that she would suit well for landing passengers. Even supposing tendering not feasible, I am sure that a thousand or more would be only too glad of the opportunity for a trip on the briny, without even landing at Akaroa, on board a boat that, fiom her size, would be steady as a rock.
On the occasion of the last regatta the Rotomahana tilled from the 7.20 train ; so, since people on pleasure bent make no bones about early rising, I would counsel same train for the Easter excursion, as ensuring arrival at Akaroa before noon. Theiebeint , no regatta or sports to detain excursionists, three hours ashore would suffice, and ship getting away at 3 p.m., all would be back in Chriatchuroh by seven o'clock.— Yours, &c, Ozoxs.
