BICYCLE RIDING ON FOOTPATHS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRKSS. Sir, —Would you allow mc through the medium of your columns to draw the attention of the police, and also that of the public who indulge in the practice of bicycle riding on footpaths, .and particularly at night, to the following circumstances. My daughter was proceeding to town on Saturday night at about a quarter-to eight o'clock, and when in Lichtield street, between Madras and Barbadoes street, as shu was walking near the fence, a man came up riding a bicycle on the asphalt. The girl, who is deaf, did not hear him coming, and was not aware of the fact until she was caught in the eye and knocked down senseless. A man who was going by on the other side saw the affair and came to her assistance, in the meantime the bicyclist passed on, never stopping to see the mischief he had done. Surely it is high time a stop was put to such recklessness and the culprits were made to suffer. It might be that the girl would lose her eyesight, and what satisfaction would that be when such cowards get away unpunished. To the gentleman who_rendered the timely asaistaakkrsf sincere thanka.— Yours, &c, '■';'* Arthitr Brightmore, St. Asaph street, Linwood.
