CHRISTCHURCH CLUB.
The thirty-first annual meeting of the Christchurch Football Club was held at the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday night. Mr J. R. Evans presided. There was a good attendance of members.
The report of the Committee stated that there were 139 members on the roll, comprised of 11 life and 128 active members. The report generally dealt with the matches of the past season, and the* sports in which members had taken part. It also stated that the match with the Dunedin Pirates would take place this year in Christchurch, and recorded, with regret, the removal of Messrs Thomson (vice-captain), .;_-. Appleby, Whitcombe and E. F. Nicoll. The balancesheet showed receipts to have been £100 63 Bd, and the expenditure £73 18s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £26 Bs. The assets amounted to £80 10s, and there were no liabilities.^ Therepi|ft and balance-sheet were adopted, on the motion of the Chairman and Mr D. Ho are. 4; Eighteen new members were elected. The election of officers resulted as under : —President, Mr R. J. S. Harman; vicepresidents, Messrs C H. Croxton, J. R. Evans, B. S. Harley, N. L. Macbeth; captain, Mr H. Frost; deputy-captain, Mr J. S. Middleton ; hon. secretary, Mr B. P. Gully; hon. treasurer, Mr C. Flavell; managing committee, F. S. Harley, C. F. Smith, _f. T. Wilson ; dele*?ates to" Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs H. Frost, J. S. Middleton, F. S. Harley and B. P. Gully ; hon. auditors, Messrs A. L. Styche and D. Hoare. It was decided to open the season on Saturday next, and accept the Wellington Club's invitation to play them at Wellington on 9th April. The question of the number of teams to be entered for the President's Cup competition was left to the decision of the Com mittee. • After passing votes of thanks to the retiring officers, the meeting adjourned. The opening game of the Sydenham Football Club took place on Saturday at the Sydenham Park. Thirty members took part, and some good, fast play was witnessed. Several of the new junior members showed up very prominently. Mr H. C. Harrison has been elected a member of the Selection Committee. The opening game on Kaiapoi Park was played between that club and the N'tu Ahuriri (Maori) players. The palefaces scored 25 and the natives 3. There was a large attendance to witness the play.
