LAND BOARD.

The Land Board met on Thursday. Present X —Messrs D. McMillan, A. C. Pringle and * J. MoLachlan. In tho absence of the Com ' missioner, Mr D. McMillan was voted to the chair. y. G. - Humphries. In accordance with the report of the Crown Lands Ranger, it was resolved to , approve of the unsold sections in blocks 12, j 13 and 18 and section 15 block 24, town- i ship of Mackenzie, being offered for sale by , public auction. , It was resolved to accept; an offer by Mr Hadler for the accupation of lot 26 block , 11, Port Robinson, on the terms offered to him on January 12th, 1897. It was resolved to adhere to the decision of December 2nd as to leasing the Domett Mine and Spotswood V.S. blocks at Cheviot, adjacent portions of railway reserve to be included in the leases, and the Commissioner of Crown Lands to be authorised to withhold some of the small lots at Domett and Spots wood for cash sale as recommended by the ranger. McNiven's application for part of the Domett Village Block on lease in perpetuity was refused. It was also resolved to grant Jas. Dumphy a temporary lease of lots 3 to 9, Waimakariri Gorge at ls per acre, and to renew D. G. Matheson's pastoral lease of runs 150 and 150 a for a term of one year on the same terms as before. It was decided to renew B. P. Bartrum's occupation of reserve 1237, Rangitata river, for a year, on the same terms as previously. It was resolved to re-offer several small grazing runs at Station Peak at rehtals of 7_d per acre and 6d per acre, the valuations of improvements to be reduced by 25 per cent, for disposal. The Board was of opinion that small grazing run No. 50, Albury settlement, should be re-effered for public competition. i E. J. Dooley waa called upon to show cause before the next meeting of the Board i why his interest in R.S. 36577, Patoa , settlement, should not be forfeited for non- . compliance with the conditions of his lease. An application by Wm. and F. Dale for ; relief, on account of fire on their lands. was refused. G. H. Mitchell was granted a temporary . occupation license of part of block 8, . Trisby be allowed to occupy run 95 Hunter r river, at a rental of £5 per annum, for three ~ t years. 2 A memo, from the Crown solicitor and I correspondence from T. H. Mann on the subject of the latter's trespass on R.S. 36229 1 Hunter's Hills, were considered, and it was resolved to apply to the head office for ' authority to take proceedings as recom* • mended by the Crown solicitor. It was decided to approve of sections 36 and 39 (9d per acre, improvements £365) and 36 ■ and 31 (7_ per acre, improvements £250) X being re-offered for disposal on March Ist, . 1898, as small grazing runs, weighted with 3 valuation for improvements.
