SWIMMING.
RICCARTON CLUB.
A largely-attended meeting was held at the Riccarton Library on Tuesday, for the purpose of forming a swimming club for thedistrict. Mr J. Jarman was voted to the chair. Mr Taylor read the agreement drawn up between the proposed club and the School Committee, which was adopted, aad moved —" That a swimming chib be formed, to be known as the Riccarton Amateur Swimming Club." Fifty-five members were elected. The rules of the Christchurch Club were adopted, with alterations to suit the district. The election of officers resulted :— President, Mr P. Campbell; Vice-Presi-dents, Hons. C. C. Bowen and W. Rolleston, Rev. W. T. P. Winter, Messrs T. Covcrdale, J. Woods, B. Ballin, Murray Hobbs, J. 0. B. Beckett, G. W. Burrows, R. Brake, R. Ray, E. Cutts, W. Ballantyne; Captain, Mr C. Taylor; Vice-Cap-tain, Mr J. Hanson; Hon. Secretary and Treasurer, Mr H. English ; Auditor, Mr H. Freeman; Committee, Messrs W. Atkins, G. Dnrey, W. Laing, E. Hanson,, J. Jarman, £. Hodgkinson and J. Ballin ; Delegates to N.Z.A.S.A., Messrs C.Taylor and 3. Hanson, who were also appointed delegates to Consul meetings. It was decided to affiliate to the N.Z.A.S.A., and that the delegates be instructed to vote in favour of the Association being kept to the strict amateur principle. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Smart for his kindness and assistance to the club and Bath Committee.
