CHORAL MUSIC.
That there existed a strong desire in Dunertin lor an Association for the study of choral music was (aays the Olago Daily 2'inies) demonstrated on Tuesday evening, when no less than 274 ladies and gentlemen attended tho first practice of the newlyformed Choral Society. This was greatly in excess of the Committee's anticipations, Mid some inconvenience was at first experienced in fiuding seating accommodation. (Tins having been overcome the choir settled flown to work, and under Mr Coombs, the newly-appointed conductor, went over about half the choruses of Mendelssohn's •' Elijah.' , The Committee now aim at having a well-balanced chorus of 300 tested voices, and there seems to bo no reason why this should not be obtained.
