BOROUGH COUNCILS.

NEW BRIGHTON.

Tlie fortnightly meeting of the New Brighton Couucil was held last evening. Present—The Mayor and Councillors Winny, Thomson, Glanville and Mclntyre. An apology was received for the absence of Cr. Marshall through illness. Leave of absence was granted to the absent Councillors. Mr Pattrick -wrote complainine of the terms of the Inspector's report being read at the last meeting. It was explained that the report was most favourable, both as to quality of meat and as to condition of premises. The Town Clerk reported that satisfactory progress was being made with the George street footpath and the Richmond Terrace road. It was decided to renew the application to the Selwyn County Council for reserve 1579, by limiting it to that portion west of Recreation Reserve 1616, known as "the plantation." The resolution striking rates, of which due notice had been given, was passed. It was decided to accord the Council's patronage to the kinematograph syndicate this evening, also to extend the footpath and kerbing so as to include the frontage from Seavi'ew road to High street.
