His Excellency leaves Wellington for the North to-day, going overland, via Palmerston North, and taking the steamer at New Plymouth, THE NEW ZEALAND CONTINGENT. At a meeting of the Mounted Rifles on Friday evening it- was decided to tender a social to the three members of the troop who formed part of the New Zealand Contingent on their return from England, and the officers commanding local Corps will be invited to attend a meeting with the view of arranging that their companies may take part in welcoming the men home.*
