Affiliation".—Francis .Barrett, » halfcaste, was charged with being the putative father of the male child of Elizabeth H. l"lutey, a threeexuarter-caste. Complainant gave evidence, aud stated her age was fifteen. Mr Helmore, for the complainant, called evidence as to costs of attendance, £5. Mr Mills, for defendant, said he had only just been instructed, but practically there was no defence. He called defendant, who stated he was receiving 15s per week as a labourer. The Magistrate made an order for payment of £5 and 5s per week. As defendant had stated in a letter his intention of going away, he must find a bond of £50 to guarantee the payments.

Maintknan-ci-:. —Tckakati Reihana was charged with being the father of the illegitimate child of I'iipai Tekakati, and was sued for its maintenance. Mr Raymond for complainant, and Mr Aspinall for defendant, who was ordered to pay at the rate of 4s per week until the child was fourteen •years of age. Coats were given against defendant.

Lewis Thompson v Mary Werry, £6 ; Mr Aspinall for plaiutiff, and Mr Perry for defendant; the claim was disputed and a contra account put in for £4 10s ; against thi3 plaintiff alleged there was due a sum for money lent; judgment was given for defendant for 50s, Court costs and solicitor's fee, his Worship remarking that he could not credit plaintiff's story of the cash transaction.
