CRICKET.
TO TH» IDITOK OF THE PRKSS
Sir, —I have for many years been an admirer of the noble game of cricket, and two seasonp ago had all but completed a selection of my own sex to form a ladies' team to try conclusions, as a start, with the old veterans, who with broom handles were ..to be pitted against the ordinary bats wielded by the gentler sex. The great success attending the prowess of the veteran Club in their various matches seemed to damp the ardour of some of the embryo team, who lacked the essentials of good cricketers, viz., loyalty, fortitude and determination. Now, sir, seeing the pitiful exhibition of the Canterbury players in the match v Otago, I am thinking once more of making an endeavour to resuscitate a team composed entirely of sympathetic ladies, with a view of playing the poor, disconsolate Canterbury crack team next season.—Yours, &c, Sympathiser.
