' The monthly meeting was held on March Ist. Present—Messrs Hopkins (Chairman), Chapman, Giles, Smith, and Wright. The Surveyor's report was approved. Correspondence was read from the WaimakaririAshley Water Supply Board, enclosing copy of resolution passed by that Board, viz., " That it is the intention of that Board, in the matter of all bridges and fords across the roads in the Water Supply District, to construct and maintain them to the satisfaction of the Road Boards having authority over such roads and fords." Froni the Hospital Board, requesting this Board to report from time to time as to the ability of discharged patients or their friends to contribute towards their maintenance. Agreed to. From the Commissioner of Taxes, stating that a voucher had been forwarded to the Treasury for the payment of £187 10s, 75 per cent, of subsidy due on rates levied for the year ending March 31st, 1897. From James Sproule, requesting the Board to have Wood's road drain cleaned out. The Chairman stated that tenders had been invited for the work, and that of Patrick Sulivan accepted at Is 9d per chain for grubbing the gorse, cutting the fence and the drain. Mr William Wilson applied to the Board to raise the ford across the river on Elder's road. Refused. The Surveyor was directed to have Holland's foot-bridge repaired, also the hand-rails of the bridges in the district where required, and invite tenders for the hire of horse and dray for one year, also for carting shingle for repairs. The following tenders were accepted: —Thompson and Burgess £4 10s, cleaning the Tram road drain, north side ; Patrick Sulivan £4-10s.
