AUCKLAND, March 4. At Tengae, near Rotorua, wedding festivities on a most elaborate scale are going on amongst the Maoris, eight brides being led to the altar by as many bridegrooms. No intoxicating liquor was to be seen at the meeting. AJr Cadman has left for the Thames, Tauranga and Te Aroha. This morning Mr H. W. Northcroft, S.M., was tendered a pleasant surprise at his residence, Epsom. He was waited upon and presented with a handsome gold watch, suitably inscribed, on behalf of his friends and neighbours. He left to-day for his new sphere of duty, at Wanganui. WELLINGTON, March 4.
About one hundred applications have already been received from Volunteers anxious to form part of the contingent to go Home.
A new Volunteer Infantry Company is to be formed in Wellington, to bo known as the Kelburne Rifles, after the name of Lord Glasgow's eldest son.
