THE POWERS AND GREECE.
THE GREEK ADMIRAL RECALLED. ASSISTANCE OFFERED BY R. GARIBALDI. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. London, March 8. The Powers have warned Greece that thoy will resort to coercive measures unless the Greek fleet and troops are withdrawn from Crete within six days. Athens, March 4. The Greek Government recalled Admiral Reinich, Commodore of the Fleet, on the ground that he was too friendly with the Admirals of the foreign fleets.
Ricciotti Garibaldi telegraphed to the President of the Greek Chamber that 100,000 Garibaldians will assist Greece if she declares war against Turkey. There is intense excitement in Greece, and the populace is defiant.
Constantinople, March 4.
The Powers have notified to the Porte that the gradual withdrawal of the Turkish troops from Crete ia necessary. A Turko-European military Convention will settle the details.
The Porte claims that the Governor of Crete must be an Ottoman subject.
