Prohibition Order.—A pro_ibition order was issued against Charles Jarvia, to have effect throughout the Ashburton difl. trict for twelve months.

The Beer Duty Act.—Geo. Knock, aa employee at the Central Hotel, was-charged with a breach of the Beer Doty Act, in having, on February 20th, failed to deface the stamp on a cask of beer. E. Patten, collector of customs, deposed to visiting the cellar of the Central Hotel, anci finding one 018k of beer on tap with the stamp not can* celled. Witness didi not wish iio press for a heavy penalty, as it appeared to him to have been an oversight on the part of Knock. Mr Cathbertson. who appeared for the defence, said it was a case of pure inadvertence. Fined 20s, with 14s lid costs. Civil Casb.— Rest.ll y Jobes, £2 &_. Judgment for plaintiff.
