THE PROPOSED CONFERENCE OF PREMIERS.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright Sydney, December 21. The Telegraph, in another article on Mr Seddon's proposal, alters its tone. It now says:—"As a step towards the desirable example of New South Wales in making her port free the suggested Conference must be approved by this colony. No harm can possibly come to New South Wales from a Conference with the other colonies, which has for its motive the admission by them of our products or those of each other, while a great deal of good may result directly or indirectly." At the same time the Teleyraph still insists that New Zealand is not the proper place for such a Conference.
