RANGIORA.
The installation of Cr. C. I. Jennings as Mayor'of Rangiora for the ensuing year took place on Thursday evening. There were present the retiring Mayor (Mr T. Keir), Crs. Blackett, Cone, Foster, Good, Shankland, Luxton, Sanson and Carmichael. Mr Keir, the retiring Mayor, after thanking the Council for the courtesy extended to him during his term of office, referred to several matters that had been under consideration during the year, the lengthening of the Ashley traffic bridge, increased accommodation for the fire brigade, and the necessity for a swimming bath for the town.. . urged that another effort should be made to erect the Ashley bridge. All the Council* lore present tendered the Mayor their congratulations, and Mr H. Turner added his, on behalf of the burgesses. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the retiring Mayor, and a similar compliment was paid to the Town Clerk, Mr M. Amy. It was decided that the dog registration fee for the ensuing year be 10s, and the-tender of G. Thompson to erect a cottage for the Council for £168 Is was accepted. The meeting then closed.
