Sr MATTHEW'S CHURCH DAY SCHOOL, ST. ALBANS.

On Thursday evening the prize-giving took place in the schoolroom. The V icar stated that there were 46 children on the roll, and 42 had been presented at the Diocesan examination. The Inspector's report was most satisfactory. Religious instruction was given daily by the "Vicar and teachers, and the results he believed were shown in the character and behaviour of the pupils. The children gave recitations, songs, pianoforte pieces, and an extravaganza entitled " The Knave of Hearts." The following is the prize list:—
