MEETING OF CREDITORS.
RE F. JAMESON. The first meeting of creditors in the estate of Frederick Jameson, auctioneer and general agent, Leeston, was held at the office of the Official Assignee yesterday. Mr T. G. Russell appeared for the bankrupt, and Mr M. S. Brown for Mr McClure (Trustee in Lemon's estate). The bankrupt's statement showed as under :—Liabilities — Unsecured creditors, £ 1301 0s lid,; secured creditors, £1068 10s; estimated value of securities, £1100 ; surplus to contra, £31 10s. Assets —Stock-in-trade at.Leeston, £10; surplus from securities, £31 10s ; total,' £41 10s. Deficiency, £1259 10s lid. There were 58 unsecured creditors, those for amounts of £5 or over being—Duncan, Cotterell and Martin, £18 10s 6d ; Harman and Stevens, £25 2s 2d ; Izard and Loughnan, £20 ; Jameson, Anderson and Co., £6 13s 4d; Morrow, Bassett andCo.,£llo ; Slaterand Son, £2210s ;South British Insurance Co. Marsh £5, Louisa Palmer £9 7s J 4ff. , The secured creditors were the Trust Agency of Australasia, mortgage and interest, asiount of debt £413 10s, estimated security*£soo ; E. Washbourne, Addington, second mortgage, amount of debt £535, estimated value of security (book debts and bill of sale over plant) £450 ; W. Holty, Leeston. farmer, £120, estimated value of security (agreement to purchase 4£ acres at Leeston} £150. The debtor, on oath, stated that he had been in business for about fifteen years, beginning as a commission agent. He bought a section, and built a store, which cost him from £800 to £900. Business continued to prosper until excessive competition set in. He had then enough for the maintenance of his family, but without providing for depreciation and" losses' by bad debts. The cause of. his .bankruptcy was pressure of Mr Geo. McClure, trustes in Lemon's estate, to which he owed £373. His 'furniture had been sold under bill of sale held by Mr Gardner. The sum of £80 had, under the advice of his solicitor, been paid to the North Rakaia Road Board. After the bankrupt had answered a number of questions the meeting was adjourned.
