(prbss association telegram.) DUNEDIN, September 13. The racing season in Dunedin was opened to-day with the Hunt Club races, which were well attended. The course was in capital order. Tho amount put through the totalisator was £2460 10s. Results :— HUNTERS' HANDICAPHURDLES RACK, of 35 sovssecond 5 soys from tbe stake. One mile and a half. 59_. Mr G. Smith's eh g Rebel,, by Duntroon, aged, list 91b (71b allowance) (Mr L. Smith) f 591. Mr J. Shaw's eh g Invader, by Digby Grand, aged, list 61b .. .. (J.Cotton) t 47. Mr A. Coory's eh g Silvcrstream, aged, 10-t 121b .. .. .. .. (Bowie) 3 2 _, Masterpiece, lOst 81b (T. McKay), also ran. Masterpiece hung at the post, and never went up. Rebel and Invader raced almost on terms the entire distance. They rose together at the last fence, and ran home neck and neck, the verdict being a dead heat, Silverstream two lengths away. Time, 3min 14sec. A protest against Rebel for boring was dismissed, and the owners agreed to divide. Dividends—lnside, £1 5s on Rebel and £1 13s on Invader; outside (10s tickets), 17s on Rebel and 12s on Invader. KENSINGTON HANDICAP, of 50 soys; second 5 soys from the stake. One mile and a distance. Jane Eyre was beaten in rounding into the straight, and Captive had a slight lead when heads were turned for home, but below the distance Hippomenes raced to the front with the greatest ease and eventually w T on as he liked by a length and a half, Jane Eyre the same distance away third, Lord Rosslyn pulling up. Time, 2mins_sec. Dividends—lnside, £115s ; outside, 18s. WINTER HANDICAP HURDLE RACE, of 50 soys; second 10 soys from the stake. Two utiles. 81.. Mr J. hurdle. Brin headed Nat and Belmont along the back, and at the end of a mile the order was Brin, Ilex, Nat and Belmont close together. At the six furlong post, Belmont took the lead, and increasing it along the back was never approached, winning by twenty-five lengths from Ilex, with Sllverstream a moderate third.
