Mr Henry Reynolds returned from London via San Francisco by the s.s. Monowai. He states that there is a very much better feeling in London with regard to New Zealand ventures, not only mining but other undertakings. The progress in this direction is shown by . the • fact that twelve months ago it was almost impossible to get any New Zealand undertaking off, but the South African trouble has turned the attention of investors more towards the British colonies, where disturbing elements are absent. The present cheapness of money in England has also been a factor in compelling people to look abroad for remunerative investments. The regular returns of gold made by the Waihi, Hauraki, and other English held Auckland Companies have now established the reputation of NewZealand mines on the London market. Cable advices have been received that Mr Kersey Cooper and Captain Hodges, the agents in London, have floated the Royal Standard property situated at Wharekeraupunga. Some difficulty was experienced in getting the Board of Trade to consent to the use of the word "royal" in naming tbe property, it being "against the usage, but it is understood that the members of the Board have now consented. The Royal Standard is surrounded by the Tavistock, Rojal Standard No. 1, Fiery Cross, Prince of Wales and Devon Consols", and the flotation of this property means a good deal to the Wharekeraupunga district. Cleaning up to-day took place at the Victoria mine, where 114 loads of quartz yielded 2670z of retorted gold, makine a total value of £730. 6 * DUNEDIN, September 12. The Sew Hoy Big Beach returns for the week are 460z 6dwt of retorted gold from the two dredges.
