MAORI (FOOTBALL) v EUROPEAN. TO THE EDITOS OF THE PRESS. Sm, —Your football representative will furnish you with particulars of the match Kotahttauga v the Christchurch Albions{?) j played on Saturday in the North Park, but will probably omit to mention one very commendable peculiarity about it, viz., that the playing ground was kept as clear as possible by a number of Maoris, and Maoris only. No representatives of the European Club to help them, no cheer for the good runs, good passing and effective play of the visitors, only obstruetiveness on the part of the very large majority of the crowd, and very perceptible disappointment that the Maoris were much the better t«wn. A visiting team might surely have been saved the necessity of providing boundary keepers, and consequent insults and bail language given them in return for their "Please, stand back." Hei kouei ra.— Yours, &c, Old New Zealaxdek.
