At a special meeting held on August 27th, when all the members were present, it was decided to call for tenders for works as follows :—Tussocking some thirty-one milee of the Kyle road, forming 130 chains of the Chertsey-Sherwood road, metalling one mUe of Copland's road, half a mile of Bushy Park road, twenty chains of Thompson's track, ten chains of Magdon's road, three chains McPhail's road; and about seven chains of Mitcham-Ashburton road, all with twenty yards per chain. It was decided that some eighty odd chains of the Chertsay boundary road should be metalled providing that the Wakanui Board agreed, and made arrangements for a gravel pit. It was also decided that the Mount Hutt Board should be requested to share the cost of metalling one mile of Thompson's track, west of Sherwood station, and one mile and forty chains of the Mitcham road, both being boundary roads, also to metal a short piece between the crossing at Mitcham and the station. The following tenders were accepted:— Metailing on Acton River road, Thos. Blackburn; metalling in township, Thos. Blackburn; renting plantations at Somerton, R.S. 30885, and part of the Three Chain road, Michael Sheehan. It was resolved not to accept any offer sent in for the blue gums at Strachan's, and the Clerk was instructed to obtain fresh offers. It was decided to continue the metal on Mainwaring's road as far as Harrison's gate, and the Clerk was instructed to arrange with the present contractor, if satisfactory terms could be made. It was also resolved that thirty chains of the Pound road should be metalled. The Clerk was instructed to reply to Mr A. J. Magfcon, that the Board could not see its way to comply with his request, and take over a half-chain strip of land for a road.
