OXFORD.
The Oxford Board met on Wednesday, the 3rd inst., all the members being present. Mr John Weld was elected Chairman. The Clerk's report was dealt with. It was resolved that the attention of the Ashley Board be called to the bid state of the cutting at the Gorge bridge. The ranger was ordered to proceed against owners of stray cattle. Gorse notices are to be served and the law rigorously enforced. A petitiou was presented by Mr Hawk, signed by all the deferred payment settlers, setting forth that the Board held £600 in hand, moneys derived from deferred payment lands, and the settlers desired the Board to use their influence in getting the money devotod towards building a stock bridge over the Eyre. The Board thought the matter too large a one to decide off hand, and directed the Engineer to make an estimate of the work. Mr Bassetfc gave notice to move at the next ordinary meeting—That the rates for the present year should be as follows : —General rate in the £. Eyre water rate l_din the £, View Hill water rate gd in the £on the annual value for all lands benefited by the water, and the minimum rate to be 10*. The following tenders were accepted : — No. 612, J. Gundry, £2 18-; No. 613, C. Daily, £16 9i; No. 614, J. Fisher, lOd per yard ; No. 616, Joseph Allen, Is 4_d per yard. After I passing accounts to the amount of £210 7s 6 J the meeting terminated.
