FIRE.

(P&US ASSOCIATION TBUEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, June 2. A fire destroyed a brick block in Queen street, known as Hewin's Buildings, containing the business premises of F. E. Krettohmar and Co., grocers; C. B. Thome, umbrella maker ; J. E. Murray, fruiterer; & Sutherland, hairdresser; E. Cash, tailor; and Gregory, photographer. The fire originated in Kretsohmar and Co.'s cellar. The insurances are:—Kretschmar in the Alliance office £1000, Sutherland in the North German office £1000, Cash in the New Zealand office £1000, Gregory £150 in the Royal office. Thome and Murray were oninsured. The block belongs to the estate of the late Mr L. Hewin, and was insured in the AUianoe Offioe for £2600.
