CANTERBURY RUGBY UNION.
A general meeting of tho Canterbury Rugby Union was held ab the Clarendon Hotel yesteiday evening. Mr G. H. Mason occupied the chair, and thirty-four delegates were present. The application of the Wairewa Club (colours orange and royal blue) for ainliation wets granted. Mr Geo. Milne (Richmond) was eleoted to fill the vacancy on the Juuior Flag Committee caused by Mc L, Watkins , reaignation. On the motion of Mr B. Hardinq (N' tv Ahuriri), seconded by Mr F. B. Asquith, it was resolved—" That a player having, played three times during the season in any competition cannot play in » lower one without the consent of the General Committee." A discussion took place in regard to the , action of the Committee in refusing to allow certain players in the Kaiapoi and Linwood . Clubs to play in the Juuior Competitions. Mr W. A. Cooke (Linwood) moved that the matter of Mr J. Stapleton's reinstate-, ment be considered by the General Committee. Mr T. H. Caverhill (Kaiapoi) seconded the motion, which was lost on a division by 18 votes to 15. The Chairman, on behalf of the delegates, extended a hearty welcome to Mr G. Williams, a member of the Southland Rugby Union. . . ■ Mr Williams, after returning his thanks, said the Southland Union intended to send a team to play Canterbury this season. • Messrs W. J. Cotterill, F. T. Evans and G. H. Mason were elected a Selection Committee. The meeting then closed.
.A meeting; of .the, Committee .was,,then, held. Present—Messrs G. H. Mason, (in the chair), F."T. Evans, H. Frost, J.V. Collins. J. Daniels, W. G. Garrard, F. B*. Aequitb, and X. M. Buntin. The Sefton Club was allowed to ohftttge its name to the Eowai Club. A letter was read from the Manawatu Union agreeing to send a team to Canter* bury next year, providing the latter Union sent a team to Manawatu this year. The Championship matches on Saturday next were arranged as follows :—Merivale v Christohurch (Mr Evans), and Kaiapoi v Albion (Mr A. Lawrence) at Lancaster Park; N'tu Ahuciri v Sydenham (Mr Garrard) at Sydenham Park. After a lengthy discussion the following reinstatements were granted:—Senior to Junior " Flag — G. johnstone (Albion); Kohere, Benjamin,, Klingeriatein, Fueeell, Young, and Duncan (Canterbury College); W. Craig, C. F. Smith, L. Hobbß,.O. Flavell, and C. Hawkes (Ohristchiiroh) ; G. Bate and H. Driacoll (Kaiapoi)., Jnniot Flag to President's Cup—W: PMurae/'B. Maher, and G. McGregor (Kaiapoi); E. Phillips, A. Phillips, Cornwall and Drydpn (LinwoodJ; F. Hughes and A. Large (Richmond); Berry and. Loader (Lytbelton); Cronin, Christie and Donnell (East Christ. , church): Nalder, F. H., Pyae* and W. H. Wilson (Ohrietohurch). It was deoided to allow D. Page (wrt Chriatchuroh) to play in the ThtMMday competition. ■ . ■ The meeting oloaed at 11.15 p.m. .
