AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATIONS.
CANTERBURY.
The ordinary meeting of the Committee it the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held yesterday. PresentMessrs R. H. Rhodes (President), h. J. SUveley, VV. Henderson, H. P. MurrayAyusley, H. Overton, P. Cunningham, McMillan, R. M. Macdonald, G. Gould, VV. Boag, F. A. Archer, P. Duncan, F. H. Murray, G. Rhodes, J. T. Ford, Sir G. Clifford, Dr. Levioge, aud Hon. J. T. Peacock. . A letter was read from Mr D. Oraig resigning his position as Treasurer. It was resolved to accept the resignation with regret, and to put on the minutes the appreciation of the Association of the services of Mr Craig. Mr F. Lythberg was appointed Hon. Treasurer pro tern. On the motion of Mr Staveley, seconded by Mr Murray-Aynslky, >it4was resolved to elect Mr Craig as a life member of the Association.
The following correspondence was read :— From Messrs T. Dowding and Archibald on the subject of making alterations in the arrangements of the ram fair. The matter was referred to the Committee appointed to consider the question of future arrangements for the ram fair. From the Secretary of the Otago A. and P. Association, suggesting the advisableness of postponing the aunual Conference. ft was decided, on the motion of Mr Hbkdbrson, to agree with the suggestion. From the Cauterbury Trotting Club, asking permission to erect some fencing on the show ground. The matter was referred to the Ground Committee.
From Messrs Ma9on, Struthers and Co., offering to supply all the appliances necessary for running the model dairy, providing the Association arranged for power. The matter was referred to the Winter Show Committee.
The report of the Winter Show Committee was read, stating what had been done. There were numerous applications for apace, and enquiries had been made as to lighting the place with electricity. Tbe Sub-Committee bad held twelve meetings. The centre of the building would be taken up with too* and seeds. Arrangements had also been made for the provision of a model dairy in full operation. The President said that the Sub-Com-mittee had been doing very good, useful work.
The report was adopted. Accounts to the amount of £131 13s 7d were passed for payment, {the various Committees were elected for tit* year, and the Committee adjourned.
