RECEPTION OF LORD LAMINGTON.
A BRILLIANT-SPECTACLE
SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright.
Brisbane, April 9. Fully 70,000 people witnessed the landing of the Governor, Lord Lamington, and the brilliancy of the display surpassed anything of the kind ever seen here before.
The festivities were, however, attended with a serious accident. A balcony, on which some fifty people had assembled to view the proceedings, collapsed, precipitating twenty of the occupants on to the pavement below. Nine were more or less injured, and the majority of these were taken to the Hospital. The chief sufferers were women and children.
