NAPIER, Aprils. The Licensing Committee met to day in accordance with a mandamus from the Supreme Court directing a rt'iie*ciog of the application for the removal of the licence of the Green Meadows Hotel, TarudiUe, to the Marine Parade, Napier, which bus been refused on a technical poms. Great interest was taken in the case, several petitions being presented against ihe removal, while the police objected that; further hotel aucoinmodation waa not required in Napier. By the casting vote of the Chaum.iu the application was refused.
WELLINGTON, April 8. The weather has broken, aud has apparently set in fine at last. Since March 23rd there has been only one day on which no rain fell, the total record being 10.57iu. Sincei the beginning of the month tho total is 401 in. The average for April ia only 3.sZin. -
The man Didcotb, who was supposed to bo a consumptive patient, and about whom the Benevolent Trustees received a letter, arrived by the lonic. He waa examined medically, aud it turued out that, he had so far recovered on the voyage that there was little o? no trace of disease, consequently nothing could bd done. The Queen's Drive crew-do not leave for the South until Friday afternoon. Chapman left by the Takupuua to-day.
