Auckland, January 27. § The various matches in connection with 1 the Cricket Association's Championship § competitions were resumed on Saturday ia | fine weather. In the Senior Competition, Gordon were all dismissed by Auckland for 87, to whicli the latter replied with 198 for two wickets only. In tho other SGnioi match, United made 92 as against Par_elTj 114 for 5 wickets. As there will U insufficient time to complete a second intt. ings Parnell and Auckland have, therefore, practically won their respective games, in which case the three clubs will now be all on an equal footing with four wins and'thre* losses each, Auckland v, Gordon. A good deal ol interest was taken in this match on acoounl | of Gordon's position in respect of the Cup. i Gordon went in first.and with Kelly absent, made 87, of which Cotterill with 22, Dr. Pabst 14, and Ball 11 were the highest contributors. Clayton took three wioketa for 37, and R. Neill Bix for 44. Auckland opened their innings with Arneil arid Tliomas, who took the scote to 56 without mishap, but the latter was then caught ab point by Gould after a carefully played innings of 27. At tho close of tho play Arneil had 106 and Wynyard4s.
