The Sultan has soufc a reply to the Queen's letter, recognising her Majesty's friendship, and stating that he had done his best to prevent th. cruel treatment of the Armenians. February 1. The Pall Mall Gazette's correspondent in Constantinople telegraphs that M. Nelidoff, the Russian Ambassador, in disguise, pays frequent visits to the Palace, and alleges that numerous telegrams are passing between him and the Russian Government. The correspondent also states that M Nelidoff has quarrelled with Sir Phillip Currie, the British Ambassador.
