DISORDER IN JOHANNESBERG.. INTERVIEW WITH PRESIDENT KRUGER. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright London, January 81. Mr Chamberlain has ordered Sir Jacob De Wet, the British Agent in Pretoria, to enquire into the alarming reports as to the disorder prevailing j at Johannesberg, and expresses conftdence that if such exists Presideni, Kruger will soon take steps to remedj the evil. Mr Cecil Rhodes has instructed counsel for the defence of Dr. Jameson and party and himself in coneotiou with the Transvaal difficulty. The Times states that in an interview President Kruger said he was willing to meet the Ui .landers over the questions of education and municipal government, but would not promise that there would be an extended franchise.. He expected them to remain loyal, or otherwise they would he swamped.
