Press Association.—By Telegraph.—Copyright. NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAYS. Sydney, February 1. The railway revenue for the December quarter decreased by £72,000, as compared with the corresponding quarter of 1594. The expenditure over the like period decreased £35,000. THE BUTLER DIVORCE CASE. Johnston, who was sentenced to three years on the charge of perjury in connection with the Butler divorce case (which has occasioned a good deal of controversy and led to the conspiracy case) has been released from custody. Johnston had served about one year, and his release was brought about by persistent agitation. Mrs Butler is Johnston's sister, and although her husband obtained a decree in the Divorce Court, it was subsequently proved that Mrs Butler was innocent. The result was that Butler, and a man named Davies, also a woman named Peake, were arrested on a charge of conspiracy in accusing Mrs Butler of misconducting herself. Butler and Davies were sentenced to seven years' imprisonment and Peake to four years. QUEENSLAND POLITICS. Brisbane, February 1. The leader of the Opposition, in addressing his constituents, said that he was considering the* desirability of retiring from politics. He could not support. the Ministry or join a labour Ministry, and he could not stand another five years in Opposition, with a divided team. The position of leader of the Opposition was always difficult, but the difficulty was greatly increased in the late Parliament. ANOTHER RICH REEF. Perth, February 1. An immense formation has been discovered west of the Black Flag reef. It is ten chains wide, and has been traced for five miles. The original prospectors, Williams Brothers, New Zealanders, sold twenty-four acres of the ground for £80.0. Certified assays of the stone, taken from a depth of 66ft, give from 12dwt to 18.720z to the ton. THE AUSTRALIAN SQUADRON. Hobart, February 1. The warships Orlando, Dart, Penguin, Wallaroo, and Ringarooma leave for Lyttelton on February 18th.
