Prea3 Association—Uy Telegraph—Copyright. London, January 14. The wool sales opened very firm, prices having an upward tendency. January 15. At the wool sales to-day 6271 bales were sold, but were the poorest selection. There was a large attendance of buyers, including a strong American contingent. All prices were very firm, and the . best rates ruling at the December series were maintained. Good combings showed a strong demand from the American section of buyers. The total arrivals up to date number 250,000 bales, of which 68,000 have been sent forward direct to the manufacturing districts. About 200,500 bales will be available for the series. Sydney, January 15. Wheat, both good chick and new milling, 4s. Flour, roller brands, old £10 to £10 ss, new £d 10s. Oats, prime feed 2s 6d. Maize, prime 3s 6d to 8s Barley, Cape 3s. Bran lOd. Pollard lid. Peas, Prussian blue 4s 9d to ss. Potatoes, local £4 10s to £6. Onions, £7 15s to £8. Butter, dairy made 9d to lOd, factory lid to Cheese, New Zealand 7Ad. Bacon s|d to 6id. A Conference has been held between the dairy produce exporters and the managers of the P. and O. and Orient Steamship Companies, to discuss the terms of the new agreement for the carriage of produce to England. The old agreement expires next month. A draft agreement was adopted, under which the butter freights are to be reduced from seveneighths of a penny to three farthings per pound, covering a period of two years. The shipping companies promised a further reduction if the volume of the trade warranted it. The period for shipping produce was extended to include February, and several other concessions were granted. Melbourne, January 15. Wheat—Prime milling has advanced to ss, at which price several thousand bags have been sold; business is restricted as millers are wanting a concession. The Millers' Association has advanced the price of bakers' lots of flour. Roller brands £12; small lots sold at auction at £11. Oats—-Alge-rian, 2s lOijrdto 3s 2d; stout white, 8s 6£d to 8s 7d. Maize, 3s 6d. Barley —Cape, Bs. Bran and pollard, Is Id . each. Potatoes, £5 to £5 ss. j Adelaide, January 15. Wheat, 4s; flour, roller brands, £9 ss; oats, 2s 2d to 2s 4d; barley, Cape 2s 6d to Bs, malting 3s 6d to 4s; bran and pollard, llfd to Is each.
