Tuesday, January 14. (Before H. W. Bishop, Esq., S.M., A. Todd and E. R. Good, Ksqs., J.P.'s.] Slaughterhouse Act.—A renewal ol license to G. P. Pulley wa3 granted. Ranoioba Domain.—A. application for a re-hearing of the case Rangiora Domain Board v J. Worsfold by Mr Deacon waa dismissed, the Magistrate stating there waa nothing to support it. Mr Cathro, for defendant, applied for costs, whioh were re* fused ,as he was not j; resent to argue against the application last. week. A. Worsfold was then charged on information of Captain Parsons, Chairman of the Domain Board, witb trespassing and damagiiig a feuca on November 26th. Mr Bishop for plaintitf, Mr Cathro for defendant. The oaretaker and Mr A. S. Clarkson, Secretary to tho Domain Board, gave evidence that defendant had crossed the Domain aftor being cautioned, and that he admitted making a gap in the fence. Mr Cathro, for the defence, contended that the plaintiff had not proved the delegation of the Governor's powers nor shown the authority of the Board for the proceedings or authorization of Captain Parsons to lay the information. The Magistrate considered the evidence for the prosecution incomplete in the elementary atagos, and dismissed tho case with costs. Police Offences.—P. Quill was charged with drunkenness, usint* obscene language and being quarrelsome in the Plough Hotel. Mr Helmore, for defendant, admitted the offences, and pleaded oxtenuation. Evidence as to character was given by Messrs A. B. Blackett, H. Brown and E. Wilder. The Magistrate allowed the charge of the language to be made abusive instead of obscene, and infliotod a fine of £5, with £1 for drunkenness, and 5s for the conduob in the hotel, and read the defendant a severe lecture. Civil Case—D. Fitzgerald vJ. Roberts, £4 15s; judgment for plaintiff.
