TO TOE EDITOR OF THE PRESS,
Sir, —I believe that the National Association are making a tactical blunder in bringing forward a candidate at the byolection. The party are not prepared for it—many Conservatives have promised their votes to Sir T. E. Taylor—who is strongly opposed to the present Government, and will (with a little help from the Conservatives) carry the seat. Despite the astuteness displayed by Mr Seddon in bringiug forward a temperance man a3 Government candidate, Mr Taylor will, I am persuaded, poll a Eolid temperance vote—far the largest block vote of any organisation. Let us, therefore, back up Mr Taylor for the present election, and send one keen debater aud determined opponent of the Government to the House. I beg the National Association to cousider this suggestion, and trust that Mr Lewis will forward it by hie decision.—Yours, &c, A Conservative.
