The Marine Board found that thft wreck of the Durisdeer was due to the untimely breaking of the tow line, and that no blame was attached to anyone, THE CHARTERS TOWERS MINES. Brisbane, January 3. The dividends paid by the mines at Charters Towers last year amounted to close upon a quarter of a million sterling.
THE QUEENSLAND REVENUE. The revenue for the half-year shows an increase of .£148,000, as compared with the second half of last year. The railways show an increase of £70,000, and taxation £92,000. The territoria l revenue shows a decrease of £20,000. WESTERN AUSTRALIAN REVENUE. Perth, January 3. The revenue for the last quarter shows an increase of 82 per cent, over the corresponding period of the previous year. DISCOVERY OF A FRESH WATER LAGOON. An important discovery of a fresh water lagoon, estimated to contain seven million gallons, has been made between the Dundas goldfield and Esperance Bay. MILITARY APPOINTMENT. Hobart, January 8. Lieutenant St. Hill, who is at pre sent travelling in New Zealand, has been gazetted to the Duke of Welling* ton's regiment stationed at Natal. H« has been instructed to join the regiment at once.
