H.M.S. GOLDFINCH.

After a long and pleasant stay, says the Akaroa Mail, H.M.S. Goldfinch steamed away for Auckland on Sunday morning about half-past eleven. She proceeds direct to Auckland, where she expects to arrive 03 Wednesday to join the Kitoomba. It is ail extraordinary thing ahe was not ordered to Lyttelton, as we understand there was a distiuct promise that a warship should be present at that port on the occasion of the regatta. Akaroa, however, haa no cause to complain, for the *• Goldfinches," by the kindness of the officers und the behaviour of the men, have much endeared themselves to residents, nn«l their return at any future date will ba an exceedingly welcome one.
