THE SITUATION STILL THREATENING. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. New York, December 29. It i 3 probable that Brazil and other South American Republics will join Venezuela if the latter goes to war with the British. A Chartered Company is being formed in British Guiana to work that part of the territory claimed by Venezuela lying between the Essequibo river and the Schomburgh line. London, December 30. The Times' correspondent gives currency to a statement that a large body of the Americans are averse to peace, and the situation is still threatening; also that President Cleveland is bsnt on pursuing his policy to the bitter end. Hobart, December 30. Sir E. C. N. Braddon, speaking at Launceston and referring to the Anglo-American question, observed that the little warship Alabama had knocked nearly the whole American marine to smithereens, and hinted that what had been done before might be done again.
